Orthodontist Office of Maureen A. Kuhta, DMD & Roy D. McAnnally, DMD, PC
We are fortunate to have such a fantastic team. Two doctors and five staff members with an average experience of 25 years. It speaks volumes that our team has been working together for so many years!
Dr. Maureen Kuhta grew up in Clarkston, Michigan and graduated from Clarkston High School with an athletic scholarship to run cross country and track and field at DePaul University in Chicago Illinois. At DePaul, she spent four years competing for the Blue Demons in the Big East Conference while completing a Bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in sculpture.
Dr. Kuhta moved to Philadelphia, accepting a scholarship to attend the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Dental Medicine, a program currently ranked the best dental school in the country. While at the University of Pennsylvania, she had the opportunity to compete for a scholarship to obtain a dual degree for a Master’s in Higher Education and a Doctorate of Dental Medicine, both of which she completed in four years. Not only did Dr. Kuhta graduate with highest academic honors, she was selected to treat patients in the Advanced Clinical Honors department.
The field of orthodontics is the perfect combination of art and science, allowing Dr. Kuhta to utilize skills in both science and art to benefit patients. Upon graduating from Penn, she moved to Boston to attend the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine for a two-year residency in orthodontics. Fortunately, when it came time to graduate, her childhood orthodontist, Dr. Roy McAnnally, was ready to bring on an associate, and she was able to move back to Michigan to practice.
Dr. Kuhta is married to her dental school crush, Dr. Chad Speirs, who is a practicing endodontist for Endo Associates. In her free time she loves to get outside, running, biking, and trying new sports. Dr. Kuhta and her husband love to travel, especially to locations where they can trek. Both are passionate about volunteering for the Make a Wish Foundation after encountering the organization while Dr. Kuhta’s younger sister had cancer. Dr. Kuhta has completed the Wish a Mile, WAM, and the 300-mile bike ride for the past five years, and has risen over $20,000 for the organization.
Dr. McAnnally, a native of the Detroit area, grew up in Oakland County, Michigan– less than five miles from where he has practiced orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics for over 30 years. He received a Doctor of Dental Medicine, DMD, degree in 1974 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and continued at the same institution to complete the postgraduate program in orthodontist in 1976
Dr. McAnnally is committed to common sense and performance-driven solutions that last. Experience is your guarantee.

Everyone needs someone like Barb to keep the office running smoothly! She has been a CDPMA for 29 years and belongs to the American Association of Dental Office Managers, and is CPR certified. She lives in Sterling Heights with her husband Tom, three daughters Monica, Michelle, and Marcy, and her two sons, Andrew and Alex (all have been wonderful patients here!). When she’s not in the office, Barb enjoys spending time with her husband and children, reading, baking and volunteering at church teaching. She especially enjoys helping others achieve the smile of their dreams!
"We are a professional office that cares deeply about our patients. I enjoy helping you feel comfortable, even at home in our office. I am determined to make our services affordable for everyone. Together we can explore treatment and payment options that will fit your budget. It is so rewarding to see smiles after treatment is completed."
Chances are you’ve worked with Rose in our office; she has been here the longest, over 35 years! Rose works as our lab technician and clinical assistant, you can thank her for all those retainers. Rose was born in Detroit and spent her childhood downriver in Allen Park. She was raised by wonderful parents and has three brothers and one sister. She has been married to her loving husband Ron for 36 years. In her free time Rose enjoys playing dominos and euchre with her family and friends, making porcelain dolls, and doing jigsaw puzzles (even at lunch time!). Rose is always bringing us homemade canned goods, cookies and Lebanese food.
"I have a great down to earth boss and coworkers that I enjoy working with, it makes it easy to get up and go to work! I am proud to be a small part of the beautiful smiles that have gone through our door in the 36 years that I have been working here."
We hired Bree right out of her dental assisting school and she has been a joy to train and work with, we are lucky she choose to work at our office! We secretly think she has ten years of experience, because she’s just that good. Bree is from Walled Lake, moved away for a little bit as an adult but moved right back because she loves being close to her family. She has two amazing boys, her older son Tyler, her baseball player and her younger son Gavin, her football player. She also has two nephews, Logan and Carter and a niece on the way, Paisley. When she isn’t taking photos in the office or changing wires and bonding brackets, Bree loves to be with the little people in her life, they bring so much joy to her heart. Nothing makes her happier than seeing her boys eyes light up when they are on the field. She also loves fitness. When not at home or work she is probably at the gym and has competed in two figure competitions. “I love making myself goals and seeing them through.” You know where Bree is in the office by finding her water bottle.
"Here at Michigan Smile Design we have the best staff. We all get along, work together well and love what we do. It’s a good feeling knowing you are a part of giving patients their best smile."
Dedicated staff members are an important part of the patient experience, and Alane certainly fits the description. She worked for the office before she had children, took time off to raise her family and has rejoined us, we couldn’t be happier to have her friendly smile back! She is from Clarkston and has a wonderful husband Steve, and is blessed with six children, Heather, Nick, Noah, Angela, Luke and Joey. Four of her children have gone through orthodontics with Dr. Kuhta and Dr. McAnnally, she has two left currently in treatment (almost done!). When she isn’t at the office she enjoys working out and watching college and pro football with her family. She also homeschools her children and has found the experience to be very rewarding. Teaching is challenging but the outcome is worth it. Four of her kids have graduated and she has two children left in school, which is also why she has more time to spend with us. We even had her daughter Angela work with us over the summer, she is the mastermind behind all our fun decorations.
"What I love about working here is the cheerfulness of the staff and patients. I enjoy seeing the results when a patient has completed their treatment. The smile on their face is priceless!"
